PhD neuroscientist and “drug hunter”, business development / alliance professional with over 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry. From 1997-1999, project leader of the nitric oxide synthase program at VasoPharm Biotech GmbH (academic start up) resulting in first-in-class clinical candidate, ronopternin (VAS203), for traumatic brain injury currently in Phase III clinical development. From 2000-2006 in various R&D roles at Novartis Ag, including research group leader and a migraine project leader. From 2007-2012 at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals (subsidiary of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co, Ltd) as the head operations and alliance function for the Discovery and Early Clinical Research group; primarily involved in defining research strategy, portfolio management and, establishing an external innovation strategy. Joined UCSF in 2013 within the Office of Innovation, Technology and Alliances. Responsibilities include driving new partner opportunities, developing novel partnering models and, programmatic support using alliance management “best practices” comparable to industry.

Guido Koch

Dr. Guido Koch, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at TOPADUR Pharma AG since February 2018. Until January 2018, Guido was a Director in Global Discovery Chemistry at Novartis Institutes  of Biomedical Research in Basel. The focus of his research team was to enable challenging chemistry and apply innovative synthesis design for fast and high-quality lead optimization. During his career at Novartis in different functions, Guido has contributed to drug discovery and development in different phases starting from target identification to early clinical trials in man. He is co-author of 7 patents and of more than 40 publications. In addition, Guido was responsible for numerous external CRO collaborations and the Global Discovery Chemistry University relations network in Europe. Guido received his Diploma in Chemistry and Biochemistry from ETH Zürich in 1991 and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Basel in 1996. After a postdoc at California Institute of Technology, he joined Novartis in 1997 in Process R&amp;D before moving into drug discovery chemistry in 2001.
