George Ng is a seasoned executive and entrepreneur in the life sciences industry, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer and Board Director at Processa Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCSA) and as a partner at PENG Life Science Ventures (PENG LSV). Previously, he was President, COO, and Board Director at Calidi Biotherapeutics, Inc. (NYSE: CLDI), where he led the company’s successful public listing.
Mr. Ng co-founded Scilex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCLX), guiding it through product development, clinical trials, FDA approval, $140 million in financing, and its commercial launch and sale. His leadership career also includes senior executive roles at Sorrento Therapeutics, BioDelivery Sciences, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, and Alpharma (now part of Pfizer), contributing to multiple successful drug product launches.
Before entering industry, Mr. Ng was a partner at two Am Law 200 firms, where he founded and led a national life sciences practice. He has served on the boards of several biotech companies and is a frequent speaker on legal, regulatory, and business topics.
Mr. Ng holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame School of Law and a B.A.S. in Biochemistry and Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Dr. Maida is currently Chief Clinical Officer – Translational Medicine for Oncotelic, Inc. focused on the immunotherapy of cancer and infectious disease.  Formerly he was Senior Vice President – Clinical Research for Northwest Biotherapeutics, Inc., a cancer vaccine company focused on therapy of patients with glioblastoma multiforme and prostate cancer.  He is responsible for the oversight of the clinical and scientific operations of Oncotelic Therapeutics, Inc.  Dr. Maida was formerly Vice President of Clinical Research and General Manager, Oncology, World-wide for PharmaNet, Inc.  Prior to coming to Pharmanet Dr. Maida served as Chairman, Founder and Director of BioConsul Drug Development Corporation and Principal of Anthony Maida Consulting International, servicing pharmaceutical firms, venture capital, hedge funds and Wall Street, in the clinical development of therapeutic products and product/company acquisitions. Dr. Sherris has over 30 years’ experience in translational medicine involving basic research, pharmaceutics and diagnostics.  Dr. Sherris has been a successful serial entrepreneur developing biotechnology companies from the ground up, devising corporate strategy, enacting programs and carrying companies through funding and acquisition.  Dr. Sherris prides himself as a “roll up your sleeves” CEO, entrepreneur, business development officer, drug developer and scientist, not simply a delegator. Dr. Sherris has worked with venture capital companies where he has both advised and raised finances for biotech companies.  Dr. Sherris has been employed by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to manage external (academic groups and contract research organizations) and internal (directly manage, augment and expand internal scientific programs) research and development. Dr. Sherris has been a frequently invited guest speaker at biopharmaceutical business and scientific conferences, a published author and holder of patents in a wide range of therapeutic areas including oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, neurology, gene therapy and infectious disease.  Dr. Sherris has held positions of increasing responsibility in public and private companies. Huseyin Mehmet

Executive Director, New Ventures University of Massachusetts Medical School

Huseyin Mehmet is a drug hunter and research scientist with >35 years’ experience in basic and clinical academic research and in pharmaceutical / biotechnology drug discovery. He received his PhD from the Medical Research Council in the UJ and went on to work at University College London, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK), Cold Spring Harbor Lab, USA and then took a faculty position at Imperial College School of Medicine. There his work focused on cerebral hypoxic ischemic injury in neonates and he was part of the team that developed mild hypothermia for the treatment of birth asphyxia. In 2006 Huseyin left the UK to join Merck and Co, in the USA. He worked in biomarker discovery, target identification and several drug discovery programs up to clinical candidate selection. For the next few years, he took on roles with increasing responsibility in several biotech companies and also consulted for a number of start-up companies working with prominent VC firms (e.g. Atlas Ventures and Versant Ventures). Since 2021, Huseyin has led the New Ventures team in the BRIDGE Innovation and Business Development office at UMass Chan Medical School, where he is responsible for the scientific partnering of intellectual property arising from faculty discoveries.

He joined the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, as a postdoctoral fellow in 1987. His work at Scripps involved the use of Cray XMP supercomputers to simulate protein-ligand interactions and design novel inhibitors. From there, he went to workars, where he led molecular modeling and drug design efforts on several drug discovery projects. His research at Vertex led to the discovery of three FDA- approved drugs: two AIDS drugs, Agenerase (amprenavir) and Lexiva (fosamprenavir), and one hepatitis C drug, Incivek (Telaprevir). He is a co-inventor of these drugs and has been named an inventor on 26 patents. He published 72 research papers, including review articles and book chapters.
Huseyin	Mehmet	Executive Director, New Ventures	University of Massachusetts Medical School	https://proventainternational.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huseyin-Mehmet.jpg	Huseyin Mehmet is a drug hunter and research scientist with >35 years’ experience in basic and clinical academic research and in pharmaceutical / biotechnology drug discovery. He received his PhD from the Medical Research Council in the UJ and went on to work at University College London, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK), Cold Spring Harbor Lab, USA and then took a faculty position at Imperial College School of Medicine. There his work focused on cerebral hypoxic ischemic injury in neonates and he was part of the team that developed mild hypothermia for the treatment of birth asphyxia. In 2006 Huseyin left the UK to join Merck and Co, in the USA. He worked in biomarker discovery, target identification and several drug discovery programs up to clinical candidate selection. For the next few years, he took on roles with increasing responsibility in several biotech companies and also consulted for a number of start-up companies working with prominent VC firms (e.g. Atlas Ventures and Versant Ventures). Since 2021, Huseyin has led the New Ventures team in the BRIDGE Innovation and Business Development office at UMass Chan Medical School, where he is responsible for the scientific partnering of intellectual property arising from faculty discoveries.

During his career in drug discovery and development, Guido has lead projects in different phases from target identification to early clinical stage including multiple kinase inhibitors. In 2023, Rick also received the Edison Patent Award in Biotechnology Innovation with colleagues from BMS and Scripps Research. In 2021, he was awarded the ACS Fellow by the American 
Chemical Society and in 2018 received the Ondetti-Cushman award for leadership of the FXIa drug discovery team. Prior to Bristol Myers Squibb, Rick spent 12 years at RPR (now Sanofi). Rick received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from U. Penn.

Dr. Vudathala, Ph.D., is currently Global Head, RA CMC at Incyte Corporation. He was Formerly Executive Director of RA CMC at Intarcia Therapeutics, Head of Quality Advocacy at GSK Vaccines and Global Head of Regulatory CMC at Novartis Vaccines. He was also Associate Vice President of Regulatory Affairs CMC at Sanofi-Aventis. He has extensive experience in CMC regulatory strategy for Global Development and Life-Cycle Management Projects and contributed to over 30 NDA and BLA approvals and 60 INDs. Dr. Vudathala has had numerous interactions with global regulators on project related CMC matters as well as on key ICH initiatives. He has published extensively on drug development and regulatory CMC topics. He was on the Regulatory and Quality Advisory Board at the Parenteral Drug Association and a member of the PDA core team on ICHQ12/ Post Approval Changes. He was also previously Vice Chair of the Technical Development and Operations Committee at PhRMA and an active member of the PhRMA CTD Quality Task Force, Genotoxic Impurities Task Force, and a working group member of the FDA Subcommittee for Pharmaceutical Sciences on Process Analytical Technologies and Quality-by-Design. He was also the Chair of the Regulatory Sciences Section of AAPS. Dr. Vudathala is a well-recognized expert on Regulatory CMC and Quality matters and has made several presentations at AAPS, PDA, IIR, Barnett & Proventa International workshops and conferences on CMC, Regulatory, CTD, Drug Device Combination Products and Genotoxic Impurities topics. Dr. Vudathala graduated from the University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and held positions with the Health Protection Branch, Canada, and Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals

Gregory Papastoitsis

Chief Process and Manufacturing Officer Ankyra Therapeutics

Dr. Gregory Zarbis-Papastoitsis is the Chief Process and Manufacturing Officer at Ankyra Therapeutics, an immune-oncology company, where he is responsible for all CMC activities. Prior to Ankyra, he was the EVP of Process and Manufacturing at Compass Therapeutics where he oversaw all CMC activities for a CD137 agonist, which is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical studies. Before he was the SVP of development and manufacturing at Eleven Biotherapeutics where he worked on an IL-1 inhibitor that reached pivotal clinical studies for Dry Eye Disease, and an anti-IL6 antibody (successful IND), for Macular Edema. Earlier, he was Associate Director of Process and Analytical Development at Syntonix Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for the early development of a long-lasting Factor IX (ALPROLIX®). He also worked on the commercial process of HUMIRA® (Abbott/Abbvie), on the purification process of ONTAK® , an IL2-diphtheria toxin fusion protein (Seragen), on the early development of an antibody-toxin conjugate (aPSMA-DM1) that reached Phase I clinical trials for prostate cancer and an aCCR2 antibody that was in Phase II clinical trials for autoimmune diseases (Millenium Pharma). He received his PhD in Biology at Binghamton University followed by 3 years of post-doctoral studies at Boston University School of Medicine investigating proteases in Alzheimer disease.
