Roads are one of the paramount assets a government can have. All the wealthiest and economically developed countries in the world have one thing in common; they have good infrastructure and specifically an abundance of roads.
Roads create wealth.
A well-constructed road should be a great investment for any country for many years. However, the trouble arises when the structures (Client, Engineer and Contractor) involved with a project do not understand the process and principles of building a road properly. Poor knowledge could lead to roads that will not last long and subsequently become a huge loss to the government, community and the environment.
This informative two day course is a wonderful refresher to experienced engineers and a good starter for newcomers. The course will look at various facets of road construction with practical aspects highlighted. Some topics that will be covered are: design process; maintenance principles, sustainable road construction; new technologies and ideas; material mechanics; and construction procedures.
Focus will also be given on important key maintenance aspects.
The course is delivered in a very informal practical manner and will deliver a pronounced insight to the industry.
