Tim Van den Bulcke is former coordinator of the biomedical informatics group at the Antwerp University Hospital (UZA) and former professor at UAntwerpen. Having identified common needs, he co-founded biomina (www.biomina.be), an interdisciplinary research center for biomedical informatics. From a passion for innovation and novel technology, he gained extensive experience at the intersection of data sciences and life sciences. A key driver throughout his career is to have a measurable impact on patient lives and on business outcomes. During his career in the pharmaceutical industry and in academic research, he switched between various roles needed to realize this vision, ranging from scientist and software engineer to entrepreneurial and managerial roles.
